WINTER SOLSTICE
Yule, originating in deep winter cold, is a time of saying farewell to the past year and opening to the new, to changes we may anticipate and those which may take us by surprise. We celebrate with family, friends and strangers, giving thanks to the Goddess for the gifts She has bestowed. We look toward the future in which she has prepared us to live. The Yule log, perfumed with the season's spices, and wrestled into the fireplace, bears our thanks for births and joinings, as well as our prayers for wisdom to face the transformations soon to come. We invoke peace where conflict has separated us; we commit to preparation for atmospheric changes we have never known-we join with a world turned upside down.We open the door when the stranger knocks, bringing the symbolic lump of coal that encourages us to light our way into a new dawn. Welcome Yule! Patricia MacAodha, We'Moon
